What is automatic pet feeding?
Automatic pet feeding uses a hopper that releases measured portions of dry food at times you set, so meals happen without you at home. The SmartServe adds live night-vision video, two-way audio and a logged feeding history in the app, so you can see and hear each meal. You can also dispense an extra meal remotely and get an alert when food is running low.
How many meals a day can I schedule, and how big are the portions?
Up to 8 scheduled meals a day, each 1 to 10 portions of roughly 10g. That covers one big dinner, several small meals or a routine your vet has set. Running late? Trigger an extra meal manually from the app. Because each portion is a set size, your dog or cat gets the same amount every time, whoever is home or not home.
Is the feeder hard to set up if I'm not techy?
No. Plug it in with the included adapter and fill the 6-litre hopper with dry food. Then connect it to your home WiFi through the app. Setting the schedule is a few taps: pick your meal times and portion sizes, then save. From there it runs daily on its own. You only open the app to watch, talk to your pet or add an extra meal.
What food and what size pets does the feeder suit?
The 6-litre hopper takes dry food with pieces between 2mm and 12mm. That suits most cats and small to medium dogs. It isn't designed for wet or semi-moist food. In a home with several pets, a quick eater may help themselves to another's portion. The SmartServe serves measured meals on a schedule, while a full bowl is often gone by mid-morning.
Does the feeder keep working in a power cut?
Scheduled meals keep running. The feeder has a battery backup that takes over if the mains drops out, so breakfast still lands on time. The camera and app need power and WiFi, so live video and remote features pause until the power is back. For everyday use, keep it plugged in with the included adapter. Treat the battery as your safety net.
How do I clean the feeder and the SealFresh bin?
The feeder has a removable food tray at the front. It lifts out for a quick wash between refills, then slots straight back in. The SealFresh bin wipes clean inside and out, and the measuring cup rinses under the tap. A rinse when you finish a batch of kibble keeps oils from building up. The fresh batch then goes into a clean bin.
